Wouldn’t tit armour channel the full impact of a blow to the centre of the chest, though? Most suits of armour (that don’t have the fake pecs/abs cuirass thing going on, which would present the same problems) have breast plates that are either smooth and domed or peaked in the centre and slanted back so hits that land have a better chance of glancing off.
